Review: phpBAY Plugin – Monetizing with eBay.
There is an excellent plugin, well supported by the author and a forum of users, that I use on many blog sites that I run. It is called phpBAY Pro.
What this plugin does is display current auctions on your site for any category and/or subcategory of eBay. Lets say you want to display the current auction (current meaning soonest to finish) of iPods. You simply place a small piece of code on your page such as:
![]()
8GB IPod Touch 3.1.2 Installed

6 Bids
US $61.00
18m
What the reader of your post or page actually sees is:
| 8GB IPod Touch 3.1.2 Installed | ![]() |
6 Bids | US $61.00 | 18m |
With this plugin installed (there's a free or Lite version too), you can have eBay auctions directly tied to your own ramblings on blogs. There is also a version for use with regular HTML web pages.
Let's say you are writing about website businesses for sale and you want to add some additional monetization to your article without getting crass like saying - buy this and that. You simply insert the small snippet of code in your article
| GORGEOUS MUSIC WEBSITE BUSINESS FOR SALE - $0.01 | ![]() |
4 Bids | US $.12 | 18h 21m |
and if someone reading your article is interested in a website for sale that is displayed from an eBay auction, they may bid and buy the business. You get a commission from eBay.
I can tell you that since I started using this eBay auction referral method (along with BANS for regular websites), I have been receiving regular cheques (checks for those wondering) from eBay. To the point where this has become a very important income stream for me.
You can get more info on this plugin here.
